Swifts Class

Year 1 Class
Teacher – Miss K Leggett

Spring 2017

Swifts have been learning about nonsense poems this term. We have enjoyed listening to different poems and performing them.

Our main focus has been ‘On the Ning Nang Nong’ written by Spike Milligan. We have learnt it by heart and performed it with instruments.

We are now working on changing the poem to make it our own.

On Wednesday Year 1 & 2 were invited  to the Hobart school to participate in a tennis skills session. This was led by the Hobart Year 9’s and overseen by tennis coaches.

The children had a fantastic morning and are looking forward to the next.

Autumn 2016

Swifts have settled in beautifully to their new class and been very busy with their learning.

In literacy we have been looking at the story ‘You Choose’ and have made story maps based on our own choices of how the story should turn out.

In maths we have been learning to order the days of the week and months of the year. We have also been using the BeeBots to investigate position and direction.

In topic work we started by learning about our five senses and how important they are in our day to day life. We carried out a smell and taste test, which was great fun! Miss Leggett loved seeing our reaction to eating chilli crisps! We have now moved on to our ‘Space’ topic and have been busy creating a rocket picture using different techniques.
